For me, elegance is freedom: being free from clichés, labels, free to dress how you want. Being free also means having many interests, building a culture by getting information on everything that happens, from sports to cinema, art and literature. It’s not a matter of economic availability, it’s a question of attitude.

Patrick Grant:
"That’s the whole point of fashion – you go through the disasters to find your own style. People who enjoy clothes have made untold howlers in the sartorial stakes. I look back at photographs – happily not digital, and happily nowhere near the internet – of myself aged 18, 19, 20 wearing late-Eighties clothes – massive shoulders, big drippy double-breasted one-button jackets. You’d laugh at them now. But that’s the great thing about fashion – it’s an ever-moving feast."

Brunello Cucinelli:
“When Socrates says: “I am not here to judge, I want to know”, (literal translation)the Pope says: “Who am I to judge?”,  my great genius, master Baruch Spinoza says: “I have striven not to laugh at human actions, not to weep at them, nor to hate them, but to understand them”. What do they mean? If someone asks me to judge I don’t do that… At a certain point  Jean Jacques Rousseau states “I can’t imagine there is another human being like me”. (literal translation)  We all are different from one another, we all have to live together and we all should converge toward the common values of unity and respect.”
"Elegance is the way we comb, the shoes we fit, how we move our hands, our gestures, Montaigne’s art de vivre and, in the contemporary time, I’d add simplicity as well.”
"Hair and shoes are the things we notice first in an individual… You can even have a beautiful outfit  but if your shoe is not adequate you  lost everything."
